Started this wedding blog. Where are we so far? Guido and I got engaged on the Hohenzollernbrücke in Köln (Cologne), by attaching a "love lock" to the fence and each throwing a key into the Rhein River (13-Sep-2009).
Since then, we bought matching engagement rings (simple, titanium, with the signature of our first initial engraved on the inside of each other's ring), and we sent out photo notices of our engagement. No big celebration wanted or needed.
The first big question after engagement was, "Where do we want to marry?"...in the US where most of my American family members and friends live, in Germany, and if in Germany, where (N. Germany/Hamburg where most of my German family lives), or in the Ruhr Gebiet where we and his mother live (his mother is his only living relative, in her 70s)?
After exploring some options, we settled on getting married in Germany, in this area (at a special place which will not be revealed on this website and will be a surprise to most guests). We are also trying to make the wedding as environmentally friendly as possible, starting with serving only vegan food <3
